Each year the sleepy Mid Wales town of Brecon is transformed into a tubthumping cacophony of jazz! All forms of jazz can be found at this year’s festival with close to 100 concerts over the weekend to be found on the concert programme and the unique Brecon stroller programme.

This year there are two main themes; the music of the late Charlie Parker who died 50 years ago and the vibrant sounds of the Big Band.

The Charlie Parker Legacy Band with John Faddis lead the Parker theme. More Parker tributes are performed by Peter King Octet, Tomorrow's Warriors, Soweto Kinch and the legendary Phil Woods who, with the kind permission of the Charlie Parker Estate and with the St David's Strings Orchestra recreates the sounds of Parker's 1950's Carnegie Hall Orchestral performances.

The Big Band sound is brilliantly recreated by the original Count Basie Orchestra, the Georgie Fame Birthday Big Band, the Vortex Big Band and the Dizzy Gillespie Alumni Big Band who are accompanied by Roy Hargrove and Paquito D'Rivera.
